Australian Treasures

The Rainbow Isle doesn't just boast new magics, but also many new Treasures as well. Below is a list of them all, arranged alphabetically and in order of power.

Heisenberg's Uncertain Principles Level 1 Silly Treasure

This strangely named Treasure is a book written by a Nocker who liked humorous phrases. If read like a normal book, it appears to be a mathematical textbook. However, if the book is opened to a random page, the contents of that page become one of the phrases the Nocker magically wrote into it. The phrase may or may not be relevant to the task at hand, but it usually helps to lighten up the mood.

Shard of the Outback Level 1 Treasure

The first few changeling explorers of both the Outback and the Dreaming around Australia (which is just as alien, if not moreso, than the Outback itself) made these shards (usually opal) to store their experiences. By remembering an experience, the memory can be stored in the shard. By touching the shard and asking for the memory, the stored memory fills the mind of the toucher. Only one memory may be stored in a shard at any given time.

Cloak of Night Level 2 Treasure

These are thick, black cloaks dotted with specks of silver. If the wearer spends a point of Glamour and throws the cloak, it expands into a 10m by 10m patch of darkness. This darkness does not permit light to either enter or last within its confines. The patch lasts until either the wearer wills the darkness back into cloak form (the cloak reforms back on the wearer, regardless of where he is) or the end of the scene is reached.

Guardian Level 2 Treasure

These are kite shields (+2 to soak) decorated with images of combat - often they contain the heraldry of the bearer. These shields may store up to five points of Glamour. Each time a blow is successfully blocked by the shield (i.e. the bearer takes no damage), the attacker must make a Strength roll (difficulty 5 + the number of Glamour points in the shield before the attack) or their weapon will fly from their hands in a random direction. This power works on ranged weapons - if no damage is taken the projectile is merely redirected randomly. Redirecting most projectiles only costs one Glamour from the shield - bullet redirection requires two points.

Can o' Whupass Level 3 Silly Treasure

These are green drink cans with "Whupass" written on the side in yellow writing. Each can contains 375ml of a drink whose flavour changes depending on the tastes of the drinker. Once the entire can is drunk, the next melee or thrown weapon attack of the drinker will do double damage - assuming the attack hits. These cans come individually or in 6-packs.

Choir Flute Level 3 Treasure

A Choir Flute is similar to a recorder, except that it has two or more "branches" of fingerholes, which allows the player to play two different notes at once. A Choir Flute can store up to five points of Glamour - each stored point allows the player to play an additional note through a mystical means not yet understood - for example, a Flute with three stored points of Glamour can be used to play up to five different notes. Whenever a point of Glamour is spent, the Flute casts an Invocation (Requiem 3) of an emotion that is appropriate to the music being played, equivalent in power to a 3 success casting. This effect lasts as long as the musician can play.

Falcon Knife Level 3 Treasure

These throwing knives are fairly large and wickedly sharp, with a slightly hooked tip. It works like a normal throwing knife (diff 6, Strength+1 damage) unless it is thrown up and the name of a nearby (line of sight) person is called out to it. At this point, the knife points at the person and accelerates in a straight line until it hits the target. The impact does Strength+4 damage and sends the target sprawling to the ground. The only way to not get hit is to either dodge out of the way (diff 8 because of the speed at which the knife travels) or interpose a fairly solid object between the target and the knife.

Random Pills Level 3 Silly Treasure

Random Pills come in small clear bottles and usually hold about 10 pills. These pills have no smell or taste, and disoolve instantly in food or liquid. Once a Pill is ingested, the owner of the Pill bottle rolls their Glamour (difficulty of the victims' Banality + 2). Each success means that one unexplainable, weird, completely random and unexpected thing will happen to the victim within the next 24 hours. Failing this roll means nothing happens, while a botch makes a number of random things equal to the number of 1's rolled happen to the owner of the Pills over the next hour.

Crystal Armour Level 4 Treasure

This is an ornate plate cuirass made entirely of very hardy, pure white crystal (4 points of armour, no Dexterity penalty). As long as the wearer remains aware of his true nature, the armour will never be damaged. Once per combat, the wearer may spend a point of Glamour to flash dazzle any opponent looking at the wearer for 5 turns, minus any successes gained by the target on a Dexterity + Dodge roll, difficulty 8. The greatest power of this armour, however, is its' ability to regenerate the wounds of the bearer - 1 wound per turn is regenerated as long as it is worn. It is possible to regenerate aggravated wounds, but this takes a point of Glamour and an hour.

Jockstrap of Uncertainty Level 5 Silly Treasure

Thankfully, there is only one Jockstrap of Uncertainty. It is a pair of old Y-fronts that is covered with stains of indeterminate origin and the original colour has been lost to time. It is a very strange Treasure - it can be called on once per scene, and it invokes a random amusing effect (note that this doesn't necessarily mean beneficial to the wearer). Unexpected uses of the Jockstrap will also invoke this effect, but the effect will be related to howe it is being used. For example, chargin into battle wearing the Jockstrap will do nothing, but if you charge into battle armed with the Jockstrap or say something involving the Jockstrap (e.g. "Nothing can harm me while I wear the Jockstrap of Uncertainty!"), the effect will happen.

Mirror of Ages Past Level 5 Treasure

There is only one such mirror in the world. It is a polished, clear hand mirror framed in amethyst. If someone gazes into it and spends a point of Glamour, an image from one of that person's past incarnations appears. Each vision lasts for one minute, but the memories evoked can prompt further recollections. Nothing specific may be asked of the mirror, and there is no way to make the image last longer, nor any guarantee that the same image will reappear next time you look into it.
