One of the basic intentions of the founders of the Association was to create an opportunity for old friends fellow UNMOs from different countries to meet again and to maintain close links to each other.

Being in Missions we talked a lot on our native countries trying to open hidden details in their histories and political and social life. There was a natural interest to the developments in the USSR and later in Russia. Despite so called "openness" and "glasnost" proclaimed by M.Gorbachev there is no clear picture on our country for the most of the West. Russia is still a kind of black box for the rest of the World. What we have in the international media is a routine rhetoric on Russian Mafia. But Mafia is not all Russia.

Thinking in this way we have come to the conclusion that the best way to do it is to invite Peacekeepers to visit Russia.
