The ancestor of my grandmother, Rebecca, was Joe-Alphonse Gauthier. First of his line, in Canada, was Jean Gauthier dit Larouche. Jean was born in 1645 at Eschillais, Province de Saintonge, France. He married Angelique Lefebvre in Quebec. Jean died 21 Jan 1675 at Notre-Dame de Quebec, and was buried in the Notre-Dame cemetery. His father was Mathurin and his mother was called Catherine Loumeaux.
The line of Rebecca goes like this:
Claude | (m) Angelique Lefebvre 21 Jan 1675 at Notre-Dame de Quebec. |
Claude | (m) Francoise Gagne in 1714 |
Louis | (m) Marie-Anne Dionne in 1769 |
Louis-Germain | (m) Felicite Simard in 1791 |
Basile | (m) Marie-Julie Thibault in 1818 |
Joe-Alphonse | (m) Elise Caron * (Elise was baptised as a Gagnon, but married as a Caron). 2nd mariage to Delphine CGagnon in 1923 |
Rebecca | (m) Wilfrid Thibault |
* Two of the children of Joe-Alphonse
and Elise Caron married in Brunswick, Maine. His brother Ephrem married
Marie-Adelaide Dube at the Saint Jean Baptiste Church in Brunswick, Maine.
There is a Gauthier
Forum, provided by GenForum where information is exhanged on this family.
There is a Gauthier family page on the Web, however, I found
it quite difficult to download. Particularly because of the coat of arms
and other things that is involved with the page. Click
on for the Gauthier page.
