It was Teacher Schultz, student of Freud ( neurologist and creator of of the psychoanalysis) that about 1908, idealized the relaxation as a “regulated” technique. In twenty years, parallel to the diffusion of the relaxation employees' methods for the neuro-psychiatrist, the public was informed of the relaxation concept. It can be attributed to the excess of varieties of methods, the doubts on the part of the public of the medical character of this notion: the relaxation was vulgarized without any technique, individually or in groups. The appeared “treatment for the relaxation” in water stations, ribbons cassettes and even couches of “relax” they were sold, and the term acquired fame and it lost the scientific sense In 1975, the medical cardiologist, Herbert Benson, wrote a book: “The Reaction of Relaxation in that it exposed its technique, to be applied in the stresses of the modern life. He got the attention for the use of the reaction of the relaxation in the treatment of specific diseases and in clinical situations in order to reduce the tension, anxiety and the fear, besides alleviating and sometimes until eliminating the physiologic sequels produced by emotional reactions as nausea, muscular tension, pain, depression and appetite loss. The book of Benson became all over the world quite popular and today it releases the public's acceptance and clinical therapists. In recent work, Dr. Bousingen, psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, director of the laboratory of Pathological Psychology in the Ability of Strasbourg, France, differentiated the analytic methods with physiologic base and the global methods with psychotherapic base. In the first group it established the methods of Jacobson, Jarreau E.Klotz and Aiginger. In the second group, or global methods, they are the autogenous training and the derived methods. |
