CLAIMER:
Okay, this feels so different writing such a thing. *hehe* This is just to let you know that the words are mine, but the spirits the represent do not belong to me. I don't think I want to piss them off any more than I probably have.
- Chapter Three -
A Voice in the Night
A voice. A man’s voice. I hear it calling my name.
It’s been so long since I have been in this house, that the eerie feeling that I receive at nighttime had receded from my memory. But now I am back wandering the halls of this place.
“Mandi…”
I answer only because it sounds so much like the voice of my father. “What?” I call out, only to receive no answer.
“Mandi!” This time it’s a woman’s voice; a woman who sounds remarkably like my mother. I turn around to find no one standing in the hallway. I am alone in my bedroom and yet people call out to me. I walk the short expanse of hallway from my bedroom to the living room doorframe to find my parents both engrossed in some television program, and my little brother playing video games on his Playstation 2.
“Did anyone call me?” I ask, and everyone looks up at me, as if I were crazy.
“Nope.” Dad answers for everyone, and then their eyes revert back to their previous engagements.
A chill slithers down the length of my spine and my toes tingle with either excitement or fear. I have just had another encounter with the spirits who call my parents’ house home. Have I missed them? Have they missed me? I shall never know…until I return there once again…
