This is a story Lou wrote about me in 1986.  It is a beautiful story. So please grab a box of tissues and let me know what you think. Click on the rose to read.

Lou married Ken Stephenson, November 5, 1950. They had four children, Nancy, Mary Lou, Linda and Keith. Linda died when she was a baby and Keith passed away October, 1999. Please see the page I have dedicated to him. Lou's life was full of happiness. She cherished her friends and family. Especially her grandchildren. Their names are Eric, Jessica and Kayleigh.

She had a life full of happiness. She loved to sit and watch the birds out her window. She also enjoyed watching her flowers bloom.

I think her favorite time of the year was Christmas, because she kept a little tree in her bay window until Easter. She never wanted to take that thing down.

When I was one-years-old I was placed in foster care until my mom got her life back together financially. I was very fortunate and was placed with Lou and her family. I was there for four years and continue to visit them. They have always considered me a part of their family and I have always considered them to be a part of mine.

Lou passed away on September 24, 2000 with Lung Cancer. She was strong all the way to the end.

Golden Heart

Author - Unknown

God saw she was getting tired
and a cure was not to be
So he put his arms around her
and whispered, come with me
With tear filled eyes we watched her
Suffer and fade away
Although we loved her deeply
We could not make her stay
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands put to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best

When something you Treasure
becomes a Memory,
that Memory becomes a Treasure
