Mirror Southern Championships 2006

 

The Mirror Southern Championships took place last weekend, 1st/2nd July, at Tralee Bay Sailing Club.

Five crews from Royal Cork Yacht Club travelled to Fenit for the event.

Three races were completed on day one where conditions were heavy and challenging.

On day two there was little or no breeze when the Principal Race Officer made the decision to launch the fleet and proceed to the Race Area.   Eventually two races were completed in light conditions.

 

Richard McGlade with crew Paul Martin won the Traveller Troply and Orlagh Cotter and William Murray won the Silver Fleet.

 

Congratulations also to Robin O’Mahony, Colin Curran, Shane Murphy, Laura McCarthy, Diarmuid Fahy and crew Anna who had a good event


Coveney Cup 2005

30th/31st October 2005

The Coveney Cup was sailed for over the October Bank Holiday weekend. Racing was cancelled on day one due to bad weather.  Three races were sailed on Day Two under difficult conditions both for the Race Officer Kevin Lane and the Sailors.  The Coveney Cup was won by Stephen Mullaney from Skerries Sailing Club with crew Robbie English from the host club.

Dave Kennefick and Laura McCarthy won the Silver Fleet.  Bronze Fleet winners were Gemma Doran and Eimear O’Leary.  Prizes were presented by Pauline McCarthy.

The end of season Mirror Dinner took place on the Sunday night of the October weekend and was well attended by the Sailors and their parents.  Johnny Murphy was welcomed as the new chairperson of the Mirror Class and Bernard and Pauline Fitzpatrick were thanked for their dedication to the class over the past few years.
