The Howitzer is a 1997 model and I managed to hornswaggle Gary Vogel of Gilroy, Ca. out of it. Gary is known locally as "a trader" and I rather doubt that  he's actually owned any particular telescope for more than a month. But he had just received this baby back from AP where he had sent it for a bit of refurbishing and a tune up.  They ended up putting a brand new tube on it and a new focuser pinion.  It sure is a nice scope and I want to thank James Turley of Sky Image Lab for tipping me off that Gary had it. Gary can nearly always find what you are looking for if it is a bit unusual. He helped me find my AP1200GTO for example.
