He Just Rode Away Sitting alone again The Cowboy's tears silently fall Feeling the harsh, cold pain As he listens to the lonsome coyote's call Memories flow through his mind Of a different place and time How he once held her and felt her touch How they looked in each other's eyes To see and feel the love so much But that was before he wanted so much more More than she could give His heart sank as he knocked on the door For after tonight, without her, he'd again have to learn to live The pain in her eyes tore him apart For this was the time he had to take back his heart Though he didn't want this at all He knew that it was best for all that were involved He broke a promise to her that night That he'd always take her wrongs and make them right That he'd always be there But even still, in his heart he deeply cares Being alone is slowly killing him And now the fire burns just a little more dim As he watches the embers dying He buries his head in his hands, again crying Calling her name into the night He wonders if what he's done is right For not wanting to stand in her way The lonesome Cowboy just rode away Darrin L.
