The Fall So here I sit all alone again Smelling the fall leaves, feeling the cool soft wind My thoughts wander to another time and place When I had a hand to hold, a loving embrace Those times are over now, dead and gone Like the leaves that have changed, fallen to the ground They remind me of different people in my life Past loves, broken hearts, my children, and my ex-wife Some are colorful, bright and beautiful Like those happy memories, soft and wonderful But others are brittle, bitter, and turned bad Those are the tears I cry of memories, painful and sad But with each fall, life just hides away And with the spring will emerge new again one day Full of hope, mystery, and wonder Perhaps then, at last, I will find her The one true love that searches for me Together, forever, side by side we'll be I'll know her when I see her don't get me wrong And when I do, she'll hear my true heart's song Darrin L.
