WKRX-FM 96.7 History

WKRX, the sister station of WRXO 1430 AM all of its life, began broadcasting around 1956, eight years after WRXO's 1948 sign-on. The former WRXO-FM became WKRX in the 1970s. WKRX is Roxboro's hometown FM station, airing a well-programmed mix of country music, plus programs of interest to that community and Person County at large, such as local news and Person High School sports. Specialty programs featuring beach music and bluegrass are also heard here. The station operates from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
