WRNS-FM 95.1 History

WRNS touts listeners "from the capital to the coast". Eastern North Carolina's only country outlet offering full-market coverage grabs some of the highest market share of any station in the country and is known in the country music industry as an indicator for up and coming hits. The station dates back to September 1st, 1968, when they signed on as WFTC-FM, the sister station of WFTC 960. WFTC-FM went country as WRNS in 1968 or 1969. When AM 960 also became known as WRNS in August 1989, the FM call letters were slightly modified to officially become WRNS-FM.
