General Hints & Tips For RE3:(No big revalations here, but these tips will definately help you get a                                                                                                                                    better score.)

Back to Main HQ

1)   If you don't have any infinite ammo weapons yet, CARRY YOUR KNIFE at all times!!! (It saves a fuckload of ammo if you only shoot zombies until they fall down, then finish with the knife.)

2)   Only kill a monster if it poses an immediate threat. If you're constantly short on ammo, then you've probably been wasting it on zombies that you could've ran past.

3)   If you're not experienced at RE3 yet,
USE A WALKTHROUGH!!! The first time you play Nemesis, your grade is going to suck no matter what, so you may as well take your time. It's no use scurrying about like a moron if you don't even know where you're headed; a walkthrough will show you which way to go, step-by-step.

4)   Don't wait until you're touching a door to enter it. You can save a bit of time, if, while running for a door, you hold down the X button. You'll open the door one or two steps away from it. If you time it just right, you should be able to see Jill kind of "lunge" forward, as if she were a
real person in an actual hurry to open a door.

5)   If you're actually trying to get a good grade, don't waste your time picking up & reading all the files. If you pick one up by accident, just keep tapping the triangle button until you cancel out of it. It's your choice as to whether or not you read them, but they really are'nt all that interresting or helpful; and reading files will end up adding
ALOT of time to your final score.

6)
DON'T OVERSAVE!!! How can you kill Nemesis everytime you see him, finish the game in only an hour and a half, and still only get a "D" grade? By saving when there's no damn reason to! Unless it's your first time playing, only save when you're about to fight a particularly nasty creature (i.e. Clock Tower Nemesis), or if you've gotten really far & don't want to risk losing it all. It's your call as to when you should save, but using a walkthrough will help you know when you're entering a dangerous area.

7)   Use the game's sound effects as your "third eye". Every now & then, you'll enter an area where a fast-moving creature is slightly off-screen. Running up to get a better view may prove fatal, so just use your ears to help you select the right weapon for the job. Here are the tell-tale signs of which creature you might be dealing with:

A)Tapping & Panting... Dogs, Brain Suckers, or Drain Deimos.

B)Moaning or slow shuffling...
Zombies.

C)Snapping Fingers... Hunters.

D)A Big Slimy Worm Flopping Around... Worms.

E)Heavy Footseps... Nemesis.

8)   Unless you get attacked ALOT, only pick up 2 or 3 Blue Herbs, and leave them in your storage box. You really don't end up getting poisoned very often in RE3, so don't clutter up your inventory with those ugly blue herbs. It may end up hurting you more than it helps you.
