One thing that makes it particularly confusing and discouraging: we have seen many signs of the evolution in consciousness that mankind has been experiencing in our very recent history. We don’t want to feel that these were “false hopes.” We need reminders that these signs are real, and do represent signs of our growth.
One of the signs that we can use to demonstrate how far we’ve come is Heart Connections. If we think back, it hasn’t been all that long that we’ve been recognizing heart connections the way we do now.
A few years ago, if I asked you to think for a minute about the phrase “heart connections,” for many people I would have had to explain more. “It’s a connection between you and another person, like a tunnel of loving energy that flows between our hearts and joins us.”
Just a few years ago, that would have been a pretty “far-out” idea to the general populace of this planet. If we were asked to think about heart connections, we might have thought of a lover/“significant other,” family members, maybe “old” friends.
We didn’t really understand love, especially the concept of “unconditional” love. If we look back, we can realize that most of what we thought was “love” was really a manifestation of our desires on the physical level. We wanted comforting/someone to comfort; we wanted companionship; we wanted to feel loved/loving. We wanted lots of things that exist for us on the Security, Sensation, and Power levels of consciousness. So we made deals like: ‘I’ll give you as much of what you want as I can, and you will do the same for me. It it’s “enough” for both of us, we’ll say it worked, and that we’re “in love.”’
Because of our grounding on the Power level of consciousness, we were unable to fully understand how we could love someone unconditionally. How do you love someone if you don’t understand where they’re coming from? (Excuse me, but do I KNOW you?) How do you love someone if they don’t do any of the things you need from a relationship?
Because of our own "needs," loving was too often a manipulative experience, and the more subtle we could make the manipulations, the more successful we thought we were in the relationship.
It didn’t really work for any of us, in general. We were doing what we knew how to do to love others and to get love. But it wasn’t coming from the heart, and it didn’t really work. I’m not saying that each of us didn’t experience real unconditional love – but we mostly didn’t trust it (who wants to be a sap, to be taken advantage of?). So we stayed stuck in our Power-level games, and we did not find much fulfillment there.
Then our spiritual evolution accelerated significantly. We began to become more and more aware of the energy around and within us, of the Presence of Spirit, the Creator, the Higher Self, our Buddha/Christ Natures, of the God/Goddess in each of us.
We began learning how to let unconditional love flow through us and make connections with all of creation. And we realized we’re making more and more heart connections.
We don’t have to know where people are “coming from” or expect them to “do” any of the things that we think we “need” from a relationship. Most often we just meet, make a heart connection, and release each other back to the All. “I ask nothing from you, not even that you love me; yet I do love you and if you also allow love to flow through and from you, a wonder-ful synergy will be created.”
We do a lot more hugging on this planet than we did a few years ago. Not just between lovers or close family.
In Florida in October, there is a gathering called MagFest. Thousands of people camp and bands play and it’s a wonderful time. Last year I had an epiphany there; it was a rejoicing kind of thing, and I hope I never “come down” from it.
It began with feeling the heart connections so strongly with everyone I met. In fairness I have to admit that I had been rejoicing in the heart connections for a while. I try to make them with everyone I meet, anyway. I would even sit in malls and parks and even theme parks, practicing experiencing a heart connection with everyone who passed. It’s SOOOO natural with children and it had mostly been quite easy with people who I found attractive.
But at MagFest last year, I found myself automatically being connected with each person, and I began to visualize the beautiful sparkling energy strands between us. Then... the instant of the epiphany. I was standing at one edge of the “crowd” area around the stage. The stage is in a natural amphitheater, so you can see most everyone at once. Suddenly I visualized those lovely connections between each of us being merged into a huge “network” of connections, a network that I perceived as extending throughout the planet and the Universe. Consciously experiencing being “plugged in” to this network was so awesome I could have fainted – “swooned in ecstasy” as the poets might have said. It was almost as though I were experiencing a powerful consciousness-altering drug. One main difference is that I haven’t “come down” yet (though it’s only been a little over a year so far, chuckle).
My reaction to this recognition included an overwhelming urge to express -- to everyone there -- my love and and my recognition of theirs. This manifested in the form of my walking around trying to hug everyone there. I imagine I ended up missing some, but over the three days I was there, I hugged hundreds and hundreds. It was beautiful; often my hugging would initiate more hugging, even group hugs. There were lots of smiles, as the hugs reminded people of the heart connections we’re making.
This year I again traveled to MagFest, not knowing if I would again hug hundreds of people.
I felt a change since in the energy from last year. Not like the change we’ve all felt since 9/11, but a change. I stopped and meditated on the difference. An answer came, and I was able to enunciate it to many people there, and since. This year, we not only realize that we’re making heart connections, we’re almost taking it for granted. We have come so far in one year that this powerful experience isn’t like a miracle any more, it’s something we people on this planet just DO.
That’s a sign of the amazing leap of consciousness, the tremendous step forward that our planet has made. Something so awesome as opening our hearts to love, we’ve not only been there, done that, but it has become almost routine!
At the Realm of Light Healing Circle here in Tampa, I have taken turns over the past three years with three other ministers in leading the service on Wednesday night. This duty includes presenting a short message to the assembled group, and leading a focused meditation. So it has been a part of my life that I watch for messages that would be meaningful to the group. For the last couple of years, the messages and meditations have almost all come from the Beacons of Light, which can be found at www.lightworker.com. These channeled messages have been of enormous assistance in helping me keep my light shining through these years of change.
One of the things that these messages have emphasized is that we create our own realities. We have been working together to create a wonderful Age of Harmony, and we’ve moved into that age. We are experiencing a bit of a “perception gap” because we still see so many “negative” things happening on our planet.
The negativity that we perceive in the world around us is mostly the “dying gasp” of the Old Guard. These individuals have build up a power base for themselves, and have liked being “the powers that be,” the elite whom the established systems serve. They have made a choice that they will not open their hearts or give up their addictions to power. But as the paradigms shift with our consciousness, they are realizing, if only on a subconscious level, that their multi-national corporations and offshore accounts are no longer going to ensure their control of the planet and its inhabitants. Their response is a feeling of powerlessness, and that feeling leads to rage.
So we listen to breathless tv anchors talking about events that do not fit in with our HeartSongs, and we feel confusion. But remember that what we are seeing is just the rage of those who have made themselves powerless by building their castles on air and refusing to opt into the new reality we are manifesting. Nevertheless, quietly and “behind the scenes” our new planet of love and harmony is taking shape. It cannot be stopped now; we have reached a sort of “critical mass” that will propel us forward into the 21st century in continuing waves of growth and spiritual empowerment.
So smile, and hug your neighbors, and continue to grow in love. Watch with joy what you are co-creating, what we are all co-creating. We will survive even if it is not “life as we know it” based on our history. It will be a new life, much more fulfilled and abundant than we have experienced in our recent history on this planet.
You have worked hard over a long period of time – much longer than your current “life” – to position yourself to be right where you are now in time and space. Let us all make the most of it.
