Five years isn't really a long time. Half of a decade. Slightly longer than a U.S. presidential term. The length of the greatest sci-fi show of all time. A year longer than the not-so-quite greatest sci-fi show of all time...
But when you put things in perspective, five years is a long time. Sith Squadron was born five years ago, the brainchild of a kid from the west coast, and now it has been with us for one fifth of our lives. If we live to be eighty, it will have been with us for three fourths of our lives. But that's only if we remember Sith Squadron. If we continue the tradition.
I feel like Sith Squadron is dying. I don't mean the real life people. We all pretty much grew apart years ago. Think of the posts, the chat rooms, the jokes...they are all gone. They have been gone. That said, it'd be nothing short of a travesty for everyone's interest in SS to wane and die. The SS saga is one of the most intriguing story arcs that I have ever read, hands down. The plans Reno has for the storylines and character development is amazing. If all of them are ever to come to fruition, it will take years.
Sith Squadron is something that is always in the back of my mind. I go out to eat, I think, "Man, it'd be great in SS if we..." I go to the movies, I ask myself, "How could we turn this into something to use in SS?"
I come to everyone with a plea...
Please do not let SS die...in print or in your hearts and minds. Read it. Enjoy it. Live it.
It's like an old TV show that you haven't seen in years which is now on DVD. You look at it on the shelf, asking yourself if you should buy it. You decide to take a chance and buy it. You take it home and watch it. The show is every bit as great as you remember. No regrets.
I urge you to get back into Sith Squadron. Read the stories from the beginning. No regrets.
