Selected pictures of the research pigs in the summer of 1999

Open pigshed. Straw bed and the roof.                                     From the open pen. Cut grass was given every day to
satisfy the need to chew and spend time tinkering
with the snout. There was plenty of grass available
anyway in these open pens though.

Every pig was marked with a coloured stripe to enable
the direct observation of each individual.

The pigs gradually turned almost everything                            Overall view to the five outside pens. The camera towers and
upside down in the pen and ate roots and grass                      sleeping cabins in the background.
while digging.

Running pigs:  pigs get exersise and muscle in open pens!

Left and right: Inside the barn. The third environment.

Pigs are unbelievably interested in the people around...and especially food! These snouts want some attention...
