Artist Statement
Art represents a fulfillment of a childhood interest, which has grown throughout my adult life.  I grew up in the farming and ranching country of West Texas.  My early memories of art were western themes by artists Russell and Remington.  Also Norman Rockwell, certainly left an impression for paintings with detail and humor.  I recently had the pleasure of visiting the South Carolina State Art Museum to view a touring Norman Rockwell exhibit.

My formal education was focused on Real Estate courses during the twenty-three year career as a Broker-Salesperson.  Art training was not possible until after raising three children and a career in Real Eatate.  Art training has been through college classes, workshops with nationally acclaimed artists, and classes with local artists; plus an extensive art library.

I constantly seek to improve my sense of design, general painting skills, and capturing the spirit of the subjects of my paintings.  I enjoy painting "plein-air", but weather conditions and changing light certainly makes capturing the subject easier with a camera.  I also use photographs to capture the details and stimulate memories of an event or place.  I was comfortable with my 35 mm Canon camera, and was very reluctant to change, when my husband gave me a digital Rebel Canon.  I was accustom to being happy if there was one "keeper" on a roll of 35 mm film. The digital has now become my favoite camera.  We are in a world of instant results and the digital provides just that reward.  (See the photo's in the
