Artist Statement

In the past I would shy away from the digital image. Recently, working with digital imagery has become the focus of my work. I still use alternative methods such as experimenting with Polaroids, and working in the darkroom is always a pleasant experience. I find myself recently scanning the freshly processed negatives to a computer instead of actually making silver gelatin prints. In a way I am mingling digital and analog. I am always open to trying a new photographic technique and I don’t have a set subject or category that I like to photograph. I like random things, I like the unexplainable, and I like what is different and new. I do have strong beliefs and feelings on certain subjects and issues but I often do not reflect my views and beliefs in my work. I hope that there may be an underlying meaning conveyed in my work, because usually it has no meaning. I try not to think about my subjects too much, and work on the mood; I feel that my mood when I make work strongly effects the outcome, the moment; the way in which I work is usually sporadic and has no rhyme or reason, it just is, and the chance: somewhat similar to a definitive moment sense, a photograph can only be taken once, never the same photo twice.
