The Case of the Girlfriends (Part Two)
By Red Hope
Jan. 28th 2001, Sunday

Janelle and the Queen separate from all their upset and crying.

MomBard had come around and stands up from the Empress's arms. "What happened?" she asks softly.

The Queen glances at Janelle but the Aussie bard couldn't bare to say it. Karena sighs sadly and looks back to MomBard. "Red is unsubbing us."

MomBard gawks. "Unsub you both… you mean kick you off the list?"

"Yes," replies Michelle. "I cannot believe she's doing that."

"Oh no she won't," declares MomBard. "Not if I have anything to say about it!" She stomps out of Karena's hut and marches right over to the list owner's hut. She pounds on the door. "Red!?"

"What, mom?" asks the bard when she opens the door.

MomBard stands tall as she can but is still slightly peering up into blue eyes. "You are not unsubbing the Queen and Janelle," she orders.

Red Hope slowly raises an eyebrow. "Get in here, mom." She pulls the older woman in, closes the door, and whirls around. "Yes I am," she says hotly.

"No you're not," growls the older Amazon as she pushes her nose against the bard's nose. "Nor can you," she whispers honestly.

The bard growls and side steps her friend. She stomps near her bed then whirls around. "I have to," she states.

"No you don't," counters MomBard. "Why huh?" She closes in the distances and pokes her friend in the stomach. "Why you think you have to unsub them?"

"Because that's the rules!" roars Red Hope. "If I so much as let them slide with the rules then… then my rules are just meaningless. The next thing you know, I'll have forbidden beverage in the Place… or better yet, drugs!" she yells while throwing her arms up.

"Now you're being dramatic, Red," replies MomBard. "Do you seriously think one of the members would bring in drugs to your Place?"

The bard leans down towards her friend. "Well they sure as Hades don't mind breaking the relationship rule. Now do they?" She walks over to her desk and leans against it with her hands.

"Red, think about it. You're going against your own morals, babes."

"And what morals are those?"

MomBard sighs and whispers, "Love."

"No I am not." Red Hope stares out her window. "They probably only lust for each other."

MomBard groans at her friend's words. Boy, when she is angry; she gets thick headed as ever. "Red, you're just angry… don't unsub them until you've calmed down and had time to think."

"Yeah right," replies the bard sarcastically. "What? so they can spend more time kissing together in my Place?" She turns around. "They can take it outside of here, that's fine but not here."

"Red, why… a same sex relationship in your Place wouldn't do any harm."

"Its not about harm," counters Red Hope. "It’s the fact that not everybody in the village swings that way." She folds her arms. "I'm just looking out for everybody's safety and happiness here."

"Babes, you know I accept same sex relationships… so its not a problem."

The list owner shakes her head. "But you're not everybody, hun."

MomBard narrows her eyes and considers. "That makes no sense, Red."

"What?" The short bard folds her arms- she waits for the explanation.

"Think about it." MomBard takes a step closer. "All these members read your stories, I'd say they would have no problem if two women had a relationship in the village."

Red Hope tilts her head, opens her mouth preparing to debate it but well… she couldn't.

MomBard sees her win and grins. "You know I am right."

The younger woman looks away and huffs.

MomBard sighs because she could see the distraught still there. "You're not telling me something here, babes. You are neva da person ta hold back on telling me something."

The shorthaired blond rolls her eyes and looks at the older Amazon. "Mom, there's nothing else to tell," she says in a cold tone.

MomBard stares into her friend's eyes and sees tints of… another emotion than anger. "You're jealous," she whispers.

"I'm not jealous," retorts the bard hotly before she paces across her hut. "Why should I be jealous huh? She just kissed Janelle," she growls.

MomBard stares wide eye at the revaluation at hand. "Are you mad at Janelle?"

Red Hope stops pacing and faces her friend. "No," she whispers honestly. "I love Janelle to death." She starts pacing again. "She's like my sister, you know?"

"Do you also know that, that whole thing could be a mix up," states the smaller woman.

The bard halts her pacing. "Mix up?"

MomBard smiles impishly. "Well sweetness, maybe they're really not girlfriends."

"Oh what? They kiss for shits and giggles? I don't think so, mom." The tiny bard paces once more. "Nobody kisses somebody else without cause."

"Okay, say they did kiss for some reason and maybe that reason is for something else." MomBard nears her friend. "Red, they could be trying to hide something."

"Like what?" demands Red Hope. She faces her friend and crosses her arms. "They were caught kissing, in an embrace, and on the bed. What could they be hiding?"

"Not sure." MomBard shrugs. "But you know, the Queen did just come back from vacation. Maybe she brought something back with her that she…" she trails off- not sure if she was now helping or hurting the Queen. She sighs.

"Hmmm." The bard taps her boot on the floor while thinking. "She has been acting damn odd ever since she got back from her vacation." She crinkles up her nose. "I smell a conspiracy," she utters.

"Sweetness." MomBard grasps her friend's arm. "Talk to Karena and Janelle, ask them for the truth and listen carefully." She smiles softly. "They won't lie to you, you know that." She squeezes her friend's arm. "Please… for me?" She bats her eyes sweetly.

Red Hope groans but nods. "Alright… alright." She was about to add more but a yawn caught her off guard. "I'll talk to them."

"Thank you," replies the older Amazon in a sincere tone. "Go to bed."

"I should go talk to them," states Red Hope in a tired voice.

"Its late, babes." MomBard brightens up after an idea came to her. "How about you walk me back to my hut. You can tell Janelle and Karena you wanna talk to them. It'll help them calm down along with everybody else." She frowns. "Everybody thinks you're gonna really unsub Janelle and the Queen."

"Well…"

"Red?" pleads MomBard. "Don't unsub them, to Hades with your rules," she declares. "You know that rule is hypocritical to your stories and the members' acceptance of two women," she debates. "Please, sweetness."

The bard sighs yet smiles warmly. "Alright, I'll scratch that rule off."

"Thank you!" MomBard giggles happily, grabs her friend for a powerful hug, and kisses her cheek. "You're the best, babes."

"Let's hope I am," whispers Red Hope. She releases her friend and strolls out of the hut with her.

MomBard peers up at the bard while walking towards the Queen's hut. "Do you really…" she trails off, not quite sure how to phrase her question.

"Later, mom," utters Red Hope. "Let's just say I am still jealous." She grins faintly.

The older Amazon laughs quietly and glances back through the dark village. She stiffens a yawn now.

"You're tired too huh?"

"Been a long night, babes."

"God tell me about it."

"Gods," corrects MomBard.

"Whatever," mutters the bard before she chuckles. She comes up to the Queen's hut and strolls in, the door still on the floor. "Gonna have to fix that," she mutters.

All the Amazons still in the hut glimpse up at seeing the Place owner back.

Red Hope feels everybody's eyes on her. She grins. "What? Afraid I am gonna unsub yawl?" she teases.

Cindy sighs in relief at the joke. "You had us going, Red."

Michelle steps over and asks, "Are you going to seriously unsub Janelle and the Queen?"

"Yeah?" asks the Empress and she puts her hands on her hips.

"Cuz it sounds like you may have a rebellion on your hands," declares Tea.

Terri laughs and states, "I've been giving rebel classes since you've been gone."

Red Hope chuckles at the southerner's words. "I'd believe it… Rebel." She goes serious and glances over at Janelle and Karena. "I'm still pretty upset." She folds her arms. "Nor can I quite believe you two woke us up this early," she growls with a grin.

Everybody chuckles in the hut.

The bard sighs, which causes the others to go silent. "Tomorrow Janelle and Karena… we talk." She lifts an eyebrow at them. "You two better give me a damn good explanation about everything."

"Red?" whispers MomBard in plea.

Red Hope grins at her friend. "I am getting there, hun." She winks and glances back up at the Kiwi and Aussie bard. "Also, don't back your bags… I will not unsub you."

Janelle and the Queen sigh in relief and fall down on the bed.

"Alright!" announces the Empress. "Its time for bed," she orders. She puts her hands on her hips. "However…" Her word causes everybody to stop moving. "Tomorrow night, we all are having a slumber party."

Red Hope groans, drops her head while shaking it.

"And our Bard has to be there," orders the Empress, her eyes pinned on Red Hope.

"That’s you," teases MomBard as she pokes her friend.

The bard chuckles and nods. "Make sure yawl bring your pillows and bedrolls," she jokes.

"Where's the party at?" asks Tea.

"Between the 'a' and the 't'," teases Red Hope. "Bad English, Tea."

"Where will the party be located?" inquires Tea with a saucy attitude.

"My hut," responds the Empress. "Don't be late!" She struts out of the hut.

"Hey Empress, you plan on fixing my door?" calls the Queen.

Empress Cy laughs and yells, "I will… sometime," she mutters before snickering.

The Queen remembers her position in the village, stands up, and pushes her shoulders back. "Alright, get to bed everybody," she commands in her queenly tone.

The Amazons laugh and slowly shuffle out of the hut and head to their own huts… except for Red Hope.

Red Hope stares down at the floor.

The Queen raises an eyebrow, wondering what her friend would say.

The bard pokes her foot at the door she's residing on. "Sorry about the door," she apologizes.

"Not your fault," replies the Kiwi Queen.

Red Hope chuckles and looks up. "Yeah well, I kinda instigated the Emp to break your door down." She sighs and glances around the cluttered quiet hut; she suddenly feels very small. "Look…" she places her focus back on her friend. "I hope there's a good explanation." She sighs. "I… I… I couldn't unsub you and Janelle if somebody paid me." She shrugs. "Known yawl for so long and care about yawl dearly." She grins. "Hate to send yawl off into the real world and stuff."

The Queen laughs softly and sits back down on her bed. "I promise to tell you everything tomorrow. Its just a wee mix up."

"I hope so," utters the bard.

Queen Karena smiles reassuringly. "It is but tomorrow huh? You're tired… even this Kiwi can see that."

"Yeah… umm." Red Hope laughs quietly but with nervousness. She nears her friend, leans forward, and kisses her softly on the cheek. She pulls back with a sad smile. "Sorry about everything." She turns and leaves but only makes it to the doorway before she hears the Queen's voice.

"Red?"

The bard turns around. "Yeah?"

The Queen smiles warmly. "Sorry too." Her smile turns into a grin. "I know you hate to be woken up in the middle of the night."

Red Hope laughs softly and nods. "Tell me about it." She pauses before saying, "Goodnight."

"Goodnight, sleep well."

"You too." The tiny bard leaves and slowly shuffles back to her hut. Thoughts just consume her mind all the way back.

Queen Karena stares down at her door on the floor. "Gods be damned, I'm gonna have a Hades of a draft in here tonight." Her eyes widen. "And the Amazons will see me sleeping in my bed when they walk by," she whispers. "Damn it, Cy better fix this," she growls and crawls up into her bed too tired to worry anymore.
