"Here we are shopping around this one horse village. Can’t even find a bakery!" Mom is getting grumpy.
"Red! What kind of village doesn’t have a bakery?? Let me go down this street… Arrright!" Mom yells, as she pulls Red by the hand along with her.
"Hey!! Guys!!! Come down this street I think I see a bakery down here. I want some goodies tonight!" She hurries along with Red in tow and breathes a sigh of-relief when she spots the bakery. In she trots, still holding onto Red. Like Red is going to go somewhere else. Rrright! She loves goodies almost as much as Mom.
"It’s okay now, Mom y’all can let go my hand now. I ain’t going anywhere ‘cept to the counter where the mushy cakes are."
"RED!!" Mom yelled. Scaring the Hades out of her. Mom tends to get emotional about goodies.
"What? What’s the matter??" Red said as she held her quill as if it were a weapon…
"Gods! Get a grip, woman…. Look at those wonderful cakes on the counter."
"Mom. You have got to control yourself. Y’all nearly scared me to death!!!"
"Sorry Babes." She said sheepishly. "But you gotta see those great cakes there on the counter. To die for!!! That strawberry shortcake and that strawberry cheesecake are callin’ our names, Babes! Let’s buy them now, before anyone else dares to touch ‘my’ cakes." Mom was literally bouncing from side to side.
Red just looked at her friend and shook her head and smiled.
"Mom!"
"What?"
"Don’t forget to buy bread for the Place. That’s why we came looking for the bakery in the first place." Red looked at the blank look on Mom’s face and just chuckled.
"Oh! Yeah. Bread!" ‘Oops! I forgot all about that little necessity.’
Finally in walked the rest of the troupe. Empress Cy whipped out the credit card and her check book, Janelle was still talking about thongs, Michelle was teasing Cy about her butt, and all was well with their world for that moment in time at least.
