March Fly of the Month
Leeches
My March fly is two versions of the black leech patern, which is an easy fly to tie. The first is the Egg Sucking Leech

Tail:                 Black Marabou
Body:               Black chenille
Hackle:             Black
Egg:                 Chenille choose any color you would use for yarn flies from white to hot
                         pink

The second fly is the Electric Black Leech

Tail:                 Black Marabou and blue flahaboo
Body:               Black chenille
Hackle:             Black
Ribbing:            Blue Flashaboo

Both flies are great on when Steelhead are looking for bigger bited in the spring and fall. These flies are also great for fall Salmond.

Dead drift this fly with either a  float and fly rod. Another way with a fly rod is to swing the fly in front of the fish as the above picture. This is a deadly presentation for fall spawning Salmond.
