5 GUYS. DIFFERENT HAIRDO's. DIFFERENT HI-TOPS. DIFFERENT RECORDS. ALL PLAYED DIFFERENT INSTRUMENTS … MOTHER LOVE BONE. WE WROTE A BUNCH OF FUNNY, CRAZY SONGS THAT MADE US STOMP AROUND + SHAKE BUTTOCKS. WE LAUGHED AND HAD THE TIME OF OUR LIVES.
THE L.A CONTINGENT [SERIOUS PEOPLE] TOOK THESE SONGS SERIOUSLY AND BOUGHT US BIG DINNERS + TOLD US STORIES ABOUT "SCARFACE" + "CHICKS". WE LAUGHED, AND WENT HOME TO WATCH "THE BIG PICTURE" + "SPINAL TAP". WE LAUGHED. THEN, THINGS GOT REALLY SERIOUSLY BUSY. WE SIGNED OUR AUTOGRAPHS AND BECAME BIG BUSINESS. WE WROTE MORE SONGS AND DREAMED BIG DREAMS, THEN .. THE LAKERS FAILED TO 3 PEAT. FEELING DEVASTED, WE PUNISHED OURSELVED FUTHER BY TOURING WITH THE DOGS D'AMOUR [ENGLISH DRINK ROCK]. WE SPENT THE NEXT YEAR PLANNING + PREPARING FOR THE "MASTER PLAN". PRODUCERS, NEW T-SHIRTS, RIDING OUR BIKES, PLAYING HOOPS, NEW FRUIT DRINKS, + OCCASIONALLY DELVING INTO MASTURBATION AND THE OCCULT TO KEEP OUR MINDS OFF BASEBALL SEASON [OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE SLOW SEASON]

IN BRIEF: Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, Bruce Fairweather and Andy Wood goT togeTHer aFter the bReakup of MALFUNKSHUN and GREEN RIVER, recRuting Greg Gilmore [former band in TEN MINUTE WARNING whom Gossard stumbled upon] to form a new band in MOTHER LOVE BONE. Their influences were from the likes of Led Zepplin, Aerosmith, The Stooges, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple [just to name a few] and tHeir sound was unLike wHat was already startin' to brew up in the Seattle scene. And with Wood on the vocals you couldn't help but feel a certain "vibe" with his prescence.
Unfortunately it all ended just as it began to take off. The guys in MOTHER LOVE BONE dreamed of big things but tHe band never got a chance to fully develop. Having released their first EP "Shine" in November '88 .. the gUys were working on releasing their debut album in March '89 along with a bit of touring and the odd show. Just two weeks before their debut album "Apple" was due to be released .. the focal point of MOTHER LOVE BONE in Andy Wood died of a heroin overdose in his apartment, March 19^th. No suprise that this came as a shock to everyone, especially since Wood had sucessfully completed a rehab. program which the other members of the band had persuaded him to get into. As supportive as they all were Wood must have slipped back into his habits which in the end costed him his life. One can only ponder as to how far these guys could have gone if not for the untimely death of Wood .. a sad and tragic loss to those who knew and loved him.
