VME bus 規格を base に TI ( Texas Instruments 社 ) が規格化した bus。
Massachusetts Institute of Technology で開発された work station 用の入出力 bus 規格で、4GB までの memory 空間に access でき、最大転送速度は 32.5MB / sec.。

PowerBook 3400 以前の PowerBook は NuBus が base である。PowerBook 3400 series が最初の Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) base の PowerBook である。特に PowerBook 3400 series の拡張 bay は PCI base である。
PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect) は Intel で Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) や Enhanced Industry Standard Architecture (EISA) に替わるものとして 80x86 base の computer 用に開発された。
Macintosh II に搭載された NuBus は powerful な 32-bit bus で、 Massachusetts Institute of Technology で開発され、Texas Instruments が商標を取得している。
PCI は NuBus よりはるかに高い、約 3 倍の performance を提供するそうです。
