Teki

This site is dedicated to my dog Teki. He recently died in a freak accident and this will be a small tribute to him and his life. I will try to write some stories here about him a soon as i can. I think my upcomming stories may help some people discover the true nature of the American Pitbull Terrier i.e loyal, friendly, comic and so on.

First are some chronological pics of him growing up. He was born 1998-07-01 and died 2001-05-13.

Teki and friend

As you probably understand Teki is on the left. When he was small we tried to socialize him with other dogs. This pic was taken during a dogshow. In our country the APBT isn't considered a breed. If the people running the dogsshow would have known what breed he was they would have wet their pants. He was about 12 weeks old when this pic was taken. They had an agillity course on the dogsshow and we thought we would try it out with Teki. He went thru all the obstacles like a hurricane. On the pic above he almost looks like a Shar Pei. He was always a good looking dog and people always wanted to pet him. He was a real babe magnet if you catch my drift:) When someone asked us what breed he was we always made up something cause we didn't want to put up with the BS from ignorant people. One day he could be a "Jamaican flatcoated pointer" and the next day he would be a "Thai bushwacker" or a "Yucatàn earthdog"As we figured we let people get to know our dog and then let them make up their mind about him instead of people hating our dog from the get go because he was an APBT.

Tough guy

This is another pic from that dog show. Here Teki met up with a 4 year old terrier type female. You can see how confidant he is by his raised tail.Teki must have felt that she was real insecure and he tried to dominate her. He never bit another dog ,even when he was older, unless the other dog started something first. We laughed our heads of when we saw this. Our 12 week old dog thaught he owned the world:) We could never bring our dog to a dogshow since he wasn't purebred according to some people. But we did it anyway. We went with him to one of the biggest dogshows in Europe. From a friend of ours we got papers saying our Teki was a purebred American Staffordshire Terrier and they let him in.

Playing

This is a pic of Teki playing with some rubber foam. As you can see his ears were way to big for his size.

Teki and Presa

Here is a pic of Teki playing with a Presa. They got along great together. Teki was about six months and the Presa about eight months.

Favorite pastime

The greatest love of his life was trees and sticks. A female dog in heat didn't stand a chance against a juicy stick. He would bite, fetch, eat, pull and probably dream about sticks.

Teki as a pup

Teki as a pup

Teki died in a drowning accident. How it could happen is still a puzzle to me. We took him to the beach on day and let him swim in the sea. In the water he found a ball attached to a string at the bottom of the sea. The ball was probably there to tell boats that there is shallow water in the vicinity. We thought nothing of it and let him play. We didn't know that the ball was attached to a line. Teki must have gotten entangled in that rope and was pulled down. We dived after him but it was too late, he was laying at the bottom of the sea. After we got him out we tried to reanimate him but to no avail.
