Red Raider Report 12/10/00 |
||||
Can't wait to hit winter break? Neither can I, or the teams for that matter. There was no Wednesday report due to finals approching and papers and such. Mark Linebaugh was named Patriot League rookie of the week for Mens Basketball last week. His 3 pointer at the buzzer beat Binghamton last weekend. He's 5th on the team in points right now. The team is showing a lot of promise for next season, and they are starting to turn things around right now. They have 5 more games before the start of the Patriot League schedule. They were shooting very well in their last game against Harvard. Still room for improvement though. The Womens Basketball team is still struggling through the early season. Right now they are playing like people expected them to play last year, instead of how they actually did play. Colleen McCaffery got league player of the week honors, shes leading the team in both rebounds and points per game. They are playing well individually, but not geling together yet, something that lifted them above a lot of other teams last year. They have a few more tough games to get through before they meet the PL favorite, Holy Cross, in the league opener. The Mens Hockey team continued to struggle. A lot. They got pasted by U-Mass Lowell this weekend. Coach Vaughan talked about how the team was struggling and he doesn't like how many road games he scheduled this year. Colgate is currently in 10th place in the ECAC. The team will have ten days off for vacation this year instead of the customary 3-4 days they can go home. He's serious about getting them reset for next semester. The ingredients are there, we've just got to get the right mentality and going to Lake Placid could be in our future. The Womens Hockey team will battle on through the ECAC schedule. But they are favored to win every game up until the ECAC finals against Middlebury again. Hamilton and Union were the victims this past week. They have some time off before thier lsat non conference game against Niagara, after that its all ECAC. Theres just 1 senior on the team this year, and 4 of the 5 top point scorers are freshman. Not a bad sign. Enjoy this season while it lasts though, get out and see a game or two if you can. Which brings me to another point. With winter break approching, I just wanted to give you the schedules for our teams. Since people will be at home, the teams might be coming to a town near you! Since thats one of my favorite pages on this site. Well, time to study for finals, I'll try to get in a Wednesday update if anything happens, there might not be much to report on though!
