The word of Opening Night: Pedro! Pedro Martinez, on a pitch count, threw just over 100 pitches, and made most of them count, fanning 10 guys and making 1 stair at the K. The only thing which he looked concerned about was AROD. First appearance walked him on four pitches, struck him out, then walked him again.

On the other side of the ball, Valentin helped with a pair a hits, one turning into a run. That run made possible by the hitting of Everett, the eye of Stanley, and most important the HUSTLE of Troy O'leary beating out an infield grounder. The other run made possible by a solid double by Offerman to score Varitek.

We are well on our way, Baby. GOOOO SOX!
