Hello everyone and welcome to the first ever installment of my column "1918". I guess I should start by explaining the name I chose. It's pretty simple actually, whenever the Yanks come to town and the feud on the field is going on, there is also an endless battle being fought in the Stands. The battle between Red Sox and Yankees fans over who can be the loudest, throw out the most insults, and basically whose better. Unfortunately as of late the NYers have had more to cheer about than us.

But whenever the Red Sox get ahead in a game, or we all band together and yell that timeless chant, "Yankees Suck! Yankees Suck! Yankees Suck!" Every time, you can count on the good ole Yankee fans to come up with that original chant of their own, "1918! 1918! 1918!"

Well i'm here to tell you Yankee fans that we are well aware of our World Series drought, and to please come up with something new. Anyway, I also have a question for these fans that insist on the 1918 chant.

Of the 25 World Championships the Yankees have won, how many have you actually been alive for? Yankee fans go on and on about "we've won 25 World Championships... blah blah blah..." How many of you have been around for all 25? I'm not saying there isn't anyone whose seen them all, but come on. I love it when some thirty year old guy, sits there and tries to throw 25 rings in my face, when he's only seen 4 or 5 and probably only remembers the last 3.

Yeah fine you're still ahead of me and my Red Sox 4,5, or 6-0. But don't sit there and yap away about 25 championships, and act like you've been there since the start, when you probably just became a Yankee fan when they were up 3-0 against the Padres two years ago.

So basically my choice of "1918" as the name of my column, is a slap in the face to Yankee fans, and if they don't like it, TOUGH!

I'm actually going to cut this column short right here, and end on that note. Otherwise I risk making this to long and time consuming. But look out for my next article on my favorite Red Sox player, Johnny V.
