August 1 @ Mariners
Lost 5-4 19inn

I'm too damn tired and ticked off to comment much on last night's game. I stayed up for every freaking pitch and this is how i'm given thanks. I won't go into detail about the game, but I will leave you with three questions/comments to mull over.

1. When the heck is Jimy going to let the best hitter in the game bat where he should be, third? How many freaking innings did Nomar lead off yesterday? How many times did the #3 hitter (Varitek) come up with men on base and fail to get a hit. Now I don't fault Tek for his poor hitting late in the game last night. He caught all ninteen innings of that game, it was obvious he was exhausted at the end. I guarantee he's not in the line-up tonight.

2. When is Sox management going to realize that Wendel Kim is losing games for us? I realize it's the norm with one out to send a guy home on a ball in the gap. But A) it was Varitek he sent, and after he had stopped to make sure the ball wasn't caught, B) the last four hitters had almost literally knocked the cover off the ball, and C) don't you trust that O'Leary would have got the job done, in getting Tek home from third? Turns out Troy's single would have scored both Tek and Nomar, and there's the winning run.

3. How the heck do you just shut it off like that? In the third inning we had Halama on the ropes. We were killing the ball. Then it just stopped. Cold Turkey. Why? Seems like much of the team was content with their four runs and packed it in for the night.

We wasted a great outing by Wakefield, and an even better performance by our already overused bull-pen. I don't blame Fassero for the loss one bit last night, he should never have had to come into the game.

The Sox finish up the road trip tonight with Pedro on the mound. If we can get this one it'll be a successful trip, though it should have been better. Game time 10:05pm EST.
