Guess we're just going to have to live with the fact that a win is a win no matter how it comes. The offense was once again, on the sputtering side, but with the pitching we've been getting it's been enough. But only enough to get us a .500 record in our last eight road games. Maybe if things were going well before the West coast swing, we could deem this trip a success, it's never easy to play on the opposite side of the country, no matter how good you are.
The offense was lead by a couple of two out, two RBI singles, by Nomar Garciaparra and Jason Varitek respectively. It would be all we could muster for Ohka, but it was enough.
Ohka threw a pretty good game and was cruising along until he lost his control in the sixth, walking the bases full. Jimy immediately went to Garces, and El Guapo proceded to get us out of the jam. From there it was the Sox pen that won the game, pitching three more innings of shut-out relief. Ohka picked up his second major league win in the game, and his first win as a starter.
Tonight the Sox return home for a three game set with the Devil Rays. Pedro Martinez takes the hill, and hopefully we will be able to muster more than one run for him this time around. Game time is slated for 7:05pm EST.
