This team is going to be the death of me, though I guess I knew that when I signed up. There's kind of a funny story to go along with last night's game.
It's the sixth inning and the Sox had just left their tenth man on base of the night. The Rangers come up in the top of the seventh and score three runs, three runs that never should have scored. At this point i'm irrate, i want to break stuff, my TV came very close to going out the window. Instead, for the first time all year, I changed the channel, actually I put in a movie.
The movie finished up around 11:00 or so, I hit stop on the VCR and the 10:00 news is on FOX, well a late edition of it anyway. I got up, contemplated turing over to ESPN to verify the final score I was predicting, but instead went to bed. I didn't want to know, I was still too ticked off.
So I get up this morning, still refusing to turn on ESPN, I figred i'd wait unitl I got to work to pull out the boxscore. Then I realize I have to head over to Mark's apartment (strikeout) to give him his ticket for tonight's game. I get to his place, he buzzes me in, and I head up the stairs to drop off his ticket.
After I give him the ticket and am ready to leave for work, he says "What a frustrating but great game last night." Immediatelty I respond, "How was it great?" He says "They Won!" "What?" That's all I could muster, that's all I could spit out. Mark goes on to explain what happened, as my eyes fall out of my head.
Needless to say it was an enjoyable drive on route 128 this morning, even with all the traffic.
I can't really comment on the game as the bats came alive after I had written the team off for the night. Actually we were hitting all night long, it seemed that we wanted to break loose, but we just couldn't get the big hit. So I thought anyway.
So i'm wondering now. Am I allowed to watch the team on TV anymore? Of course I am. Well atleast nobody is going to stop me, but I do feel I should be reprimanded. Maybe missing a great come back is punishment enough.
If anyone would like to write up a small recount of the comeback for me, feel free, i'll post it here on the site.
Tonight Tomo Ohka takes the hill for the Sox. He's looked better in each of his starts this year, hopefully he can keep that trend going. Game time 7:05om EST.
