On the road to recovery there are always setbacks, in the case of last night's game, you can call it a relapse. Ten, ten was the magic number of the night, as in ten runners left on base, and we had a very unlikley culprit as well.
Even though we scored in the first inning, you kind of had the feeling that it would end up being a long night, as the Sox loaded the bases on rookie Doug Davis and proceded to only get one across the plate, which actually should have been none, as the Rangers botched a double play.
Speaking of the LOB culprits, Nomar of all people, struckout twice with men in scoring position. Once in the first with the bases loaded and no-outs, and later in the game (i believe it was the fifth) with one-out and runners on first and second. We can't expect Nomar to do it every time, so i'm not mad or frustrated with him at all, it's the other guys who bat behind him who continue to not hit consistantly.
Oh, did I mention that the Rangers pitcher last night had an 8.00+ ERA going into last night, and had never lasted more than six inings in his short career. So last night what happens? We get two runs off him, and he pitches a complete game. Something is amiss here, oh that's it, A CLUTCH HIT!
Well, we have won four of our last five, and eight of our last eleven (doesn't seem like it huh?), so I guess I shouldn't be bitching. The Yanks lost last night and Oakland won, so we're one game behind the WC, and remain three behind first place in the East.
Rolando Arrojo takes the hill tonight against the Angels. He's pitched very well in his last two starts, we need more of the same to get back on the wining track. I'll be at the game with Mark again, hopefully well bring some more good fortune with us like we did Friday night. Game time 7:05pm EST.
