  • Boston Herald: Sox lose game and direction
  • Providence Journal: Daubach has scars from ugly night

  • Would somebody just shoot me now. You'd think this team after all that has happened in the last few weeks, could get some kind of fire going. Dramatic ninth inning comebacks? No. Repeated stellar performances from guys like Pedo, Ohka, and Arrojo? No. How about a guy on your team being thrown at all night long, or even better, your star player being attacked? NO!

Why can't this team get hot? Now i'm not going to complain about winning seven out of ten, but the Sox seem to do it without anyone noticing. Win two, lose one, win one, lose one, win three, lose two, it's driving me nuts. And now we're losing ground.

Going into this seven game raod trip against a couple of the AL's bottom dwellers, I said we needed to go atleast 5-2 to stay in the hunt. Instead we go 3-4. Now we're not completely out of it, actually we're still right in the thick of things in the WC race. 1 1/2 games behind the Indians currently with eight games coming up against them in a couple of weeks. But the WC isn't what I want, and with five or six teams still within striking distance of that spot, it's not going to be easy.

No matter how much Yankee fans don't want to admit it, their simply not that good this year. Maybe a better term for it is, their not as good as they have been. Their staff, though seemingly shaping up, is still suspect, their pen has been blowing games all year, and up until recently their offense wasn't all that great either. But somehow the Sox have failed to take advantage, they have failed to make their own breaks, and making your own breaks is what champions do.

I'm not throwing in the towel, not by any means. Heck if we're out by five games with four to go, i'll still believe we can make it. I just can't believe that we've have no significant winning streak since May. Yeah we've done the eight of eleven thing, a couple of times I think, but it's always been so quite you can't believe it. There's been no real time since May that we've been able to say we're hot.

The bats turn it on one night, then shut down the next. Why?

No game tonight, they Sox get their last off-day until the end of the year. The Mariners, who have been terrible of late, come into town for a four game set. Wouldn't it be just like the Sox to get them hot again?
