August 8 @ Angels
Lost 2-1

  • Boston Herald: Another wasted effort
  • Boston Herald: Schourek's surgery put on hold
  • Boston Globe: Is the end near for Jimy?
  • Providence Journal: Nomar, bunter to bopper

What can be said? What? I can't help but put the Red Sox and the word "suck" in the same sentence whenever I speak of them now. Yet again the offense shows how incredably inept they are wasteing another great start, and worse another great start by Pedro. I didn't plan on Pedro actually showing that he was human last night, I figured the one run would be enough for another 1-0 victory.

Looks like the sickness has finally caught up with Nomar too, he's zero for his last seven, probably trying to do too much. But heck, if he doesn't hit a dinger when he's up there, it's not like someone is going to drive him in.

I am simply speechless, the season isn't about catching the Yanks for the division, or the Athletics, Indians, and Blue Jays for the Wild Card anymore. It's become about saving some face, about showing that we actually do have a major league team here in Boston.

I think I may actually skip the game tonight, not really looking forward to staying up till one or two o'clock in the morning to be treated to another lackluster effort by the bats. Besides I can see Fassero getting banged around tonight for five or six runs early, the bats score some runs, but we lose 9-8 or something like that. I think the book i'm currently reading The Hunt for Red October, is a bit more appealing right now.
