It's a good thing we have the most amazing bull-pen in the game, otherwise we'd probably be challenging Tampa for fifth in the division. Once again the lack of offense reared it's ugly head, but this time it was enough.
Jeff Fassero pitched ok, but he still can't shake a bad case of "I will not pitch beyond the fifth" -itis, he got enough support though to pick up his eigth win of the season.
All the offense the Sox would need, and we're lucky it was all, was provided by Nomar, who with two-out and two-on in the third, hit his eighteenth homer of the season, putting the Sox up for good. The Offense allowed the Halos to hang tough though and the score was closed to within one in the sixth, but the Sox pen of Pichardo, Cormier, and Derek Lowe combined to shut the Angels down the rest of the way.
Manny Alexander must have taken his daily dose yesterday, as he put up an insureance run in the ninth with his second homer of the season.
Sox get a day off today before they head into Texas for a three game set. I'd say the Sox season is going to be decided in the next ten games or so. If they continue to play below .500 ball, then the season is over, and we'll only have the free-agent frenzy to look forward to. If somehow they can start scoreing some runs, and keep getting solid pitching, then maybe we can turn this around. The time is quickly approaching to throw in the towel, it's time to put-up of shut-up.
