Alright this is more like it, the impending suspension to Carl Everett aside, we've got ourselves a winning streak folks. I realize we're really not too far removed from the four game sweep of the Twins. But for some reason that series just didn't do it for me, I didn't have the confidence going into the Sox next series then, than as I do now. We all know Carl is going to be taken from us for five to ten games minimum, so I say lets win as many as possible until he has to serve the sentence.
Troy-O-Freakin-Leary Baby! Talk about a clutch hit, talk about coming thru when we needed it most, talk about just getting it done. Since Troy has returned he's done nothing but produce. I'd like to see a few more jacks from him like we saw last night, but as long as he keeps driving in runs, i'll be happy.
Oh, in-case you missed the game, with two out, down in the count 1-2, with the Sox loseing 3-2 in the 7th, O'leary took the next pitch and deposited it over the bullpen in right to put the Sox up for good in the game. Got ahead of mysef in that previous paragraph, sorry about that.
Mister .400 is back again, as Nomar went 3-3 with a couple of walks to raise his season average back to the godlike status of FOUR HUNDERD! Nomar had a homer to go along with his two singles, and also drove in a couple of runs.
I noticed that Carl Everett had a tough night after having a huge day on Sunday, he went 0-3 and left around six men on base for the night. I think on Sunday Carl had nothing but revenge on the baseball on his mind, but last night I think his impeding punishment was distracting him a bit, as he poped out a couple of times with two-out and men in scoreing position. We all know we're going to lose him for a chunk of time, let's just hope it's a small chunk.
On the mound last night was Jeff Fassero, he looked good to start the game having no problem thru three innings. But in the fourth he started to lose a little control as he walked a couple, but was able to get himslef out of the jam unscathed. Then in the 5th the Expos bats started to come alive and everything the Spos swung at, was hit real hard. To Fassero's shagrin Jimy pulled him and brought Garces into the game. Garces allowed the go-ahead run to score, putting the Expos up 3-2 and then yeilded to Hipolito Pichardo.
Pichardo mowed em' down again in the seventh and eigth inning then allowed Derek Lowe to close it out with a realtively easy ninth inning. Lowe started the inning a little shaky but finished real strong in strikeing out the side.
Tonight's game features Pedro Martinez against Javier Vazquez. Pedro has a bit of a score to settle with his old team, as the Spos wrecked Pedro and the Sox last year 13-1 in Montreal. I have a real good fealing about this three game sweep, and i'm going to be there. Game time 7:05pm EST.
