I guess i'd rather pound out the hits needed to win a game 8-5 and then sweat out the one run we got for Pedro yesterday, than not do either and lose both. We may not be scoreing for him, but at least we're winning.
Pedro proved yesterday once again why he is the best pitcher in the game, throwing a complete game shut-out 1-0. Along with his nine innings, Pedro gave up six hit, no walks, and fiteen strikeouts. If you go back a day ago to Jeff Fassero's great six innings of work, the last two Sox starters have a combined fifteen shut-out innings.
As far as offense goes, in a 1-0 game, there isn't much to say accept that we did have opportunities, and squandered pretty much all of them. Heck, if it wasn't for Jose Vantin's error to allow Izzy to get to second on a routine grounder, Tek would have never been able to drive him in with the only run of the game.
Ed Sprague, who was batting fourth (Everett was given a day off) had runners in scoreing position in each of his first three at bats. Needless to say the boo's are getting louder with each at bat. Sprague just hasn't done the job thus far, and recent call-up of Sean Berry to the club may spell the end of Ed, I guess we'll see.
Not much else as far as yesterday's game goes to comment on, tonight's game features Tomo Ohka in his first start of the season, against the Twins Eric Milton. Lets hope the Sox can have a repeat of what they recently did in Minnesota, again in this series. Game time 7:05pm EST.
