Well atleast we managed to pull one of the three games out. It's funny how we played Maddux tough, beat Glavine (he got the no decision anyway), but got shut-out by Mulholland, I don't get it sometimes.
For anyone who mised the game, Ramon Martinez was great yesterday. He did have to battle with some fatigue, but overall it was another very effective start from Ramon. He kept the ball on the ground and Jeff Frye very, very, busy over at second base.
With Glavine, a lefty on the hill, Daubach was naturally left out of the line-up, but so was Mike Stanley wich I found odd. But it worked for the best because that put Offerman at first base, and the tandem of Offerman/Frye was huge all day. The defense in general was spectacular, as Nomar chipped in with a few nifty plays of his own.
There wasn't a ton of offense, and we were helped by a big error in the outfield by Andruw Jones, but the end result is all that matters, the W.
Rich Garces and Derek Lowe combined to put the finishing touches on the game, with Garces picking up the win and Lowe his 14th save of the season.
Tonight we head back into the Bronx, with the roles reversed just a bit. Last time we headed into New York a game up on the Yanks and left in the same standing. This time around we're one game back of the Yanks, hopefully we'll take atleast two from this series and head out of town in a tie. Brian Rose is scheduled on the hill tonight, with a start time of 7:00pm EST.
