June 16 vs Blue Jays
Won 7-4

First place, back where we belong, we're all loving the red-hot White Sox right now, but lets just hope they've cooled off when we vistit them at the end of the month in Chicago. But on to last night's game

Now if your the typical die-hard fan, the two-run homer that Schourek gave up in the first didn't bother you much. Sure as I did, you just knew the Sox were going to have a huge inning themselves, and boy didn't they.

The two biggest blows came off the bats of, who else, but Nomar and Carl. Nomar with a two-run single off the wall, and Carl with another bomb to center filed. Then Daubach topped off the inning with a shot of his own into the Sox bull-pen.

As for Schourek, he was less than stellar to say the least, and he really hasn't pitched well in his last three starts now. Figures we finaly get the guy some run support, and he goes cold. Such is baseball.

But the pen was amazing once again, as after Schourek left in the 4th, the scoreing ceased completely for the Jays. Hipolito Pichardo came in and ended a bases loaded threat that Schourek got himself into, by strikeing out Tony Batista. After Pichardo's 2+ innings of shut-out relief, El Guapo and Lowe came in to slam the door shut. We have the best damn pen in the game.

It seemed that the offense finally showed signs of life as a whole. Even though Nomar and Carl combined for five of the seven RBIs, that just means people were getting on for them, which is a very good sign. The bats will have to stay alive if the Sox want to make it two in a row, as they will face David Wells tonight.

Ramon Martinez takes the hill for the Sox, he's looked real good lately, his stamina has really been the only question, and in today's stifling heat, the pen may need to give another pick-me-up again. Though this could play into our favor with Wells, if we can get to the Jays pen early, I like our pen vs theirs any day. Game time is scheduled for 5:05pm EST. GO SOX!
