June 6th @ Florida Marlins
Win 4-3

This is more like it, two in a row, unfortunately the Yanks won too, but atleast "the streak" is long past. The offense still sputtered a bit but the pitching was solid and the end result was win.

Ramon Martinez, helped by some poor base running, and some great defense, pitched five decent innings. He definelty could have gone longer into the game, but like Schourek yesterday, he was victim of the National League rules. Even though Ramon got a hit earlier in the game, when the Sox were threatening in the sixth, he was lifted for a pinch hitter.

The big bat for the night was Nomar Garciaparra, who went 2-5 with a run, 3 RBIs, and a homer. Like last night the Marlins jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead (another homer off the bat of Floyd) and then in the third Preston Wilson tripled home another run. But Nomar's dinger erased that shortly after and then a RBI single from him later in the game put the Sox up for good.

The pen looked pretty sharp, the only blemish coming from Hipolito Pichardo who allowed one run to score. It probably should have been an unearned run, as Pichardo failed to come up with a two-out comebacker, but it was scored a hit, and was follwed up by a run scoreing double.

But that was all the Marlins would muster, as Rheal Cormier, Tim Wakefield, El Guapo, and Derek Lowe (who picked up his 2nd save in two days) shut it down for the remainder of the game.

Tonight's series final has Brian Rose on the hill. Rose has been looking pretty good of late, hopefully he'll keep it going, and complete the sweep. The game is scheduled for a 7:05pm EST start, how about all those Sox fans down in Florida, keep it up guys.
