Opportunitues. Opportunities. Opportunities. We had plenty of them last night but again the offense continued in it's unproductive ways. Even though I only saw from the 5th on, Brian Rose really only made one mistake, and yep it was to Cliff Floyd, the guy whoes been killing us all series. In the 3rd Floyd hit his 3rd homer of the series, following up his 2-run homer in the first game and solo shot on Tuesday, with a 3-run bomb last night.
The only real positive that I saw come out of last night, was that Trot Nixon seemed to come out of his funk, as he went 3-4 and atleast gave the Sox some opportunities. Nomar and Carl also continued their hitting ways, but when they were on base, nobody was driving them in.
The Sox went 0-5 in bases loaded situations last night. In the 8th they had them juiced with nobody out and managed nothing for the effort. It was just another anti-clutch night.
As much as I complain about Wilton Veras not being ready for the bigs and that he needs more experience, why the heck has he been on the bench the last three games? I don't want to hear that Alexander has been swinging a decent bat either. Don't tell me that you have any confidence in him when he comes to the plate, even if he has a hit on then night. Heck that would make it more likely that he doesn't get another. With the bases loaded in the 8th and 2-outs Jimy let Alexander hit with Veras on the bench. What good is it doing the kid to sit the bench? We got Alexander from the Cubs to be a utility infielder in late game situations, not to be in the starting line-up.
The more I think about it, why do we have him any way? With Sadler I don't see the reason for him, as much as Damon Buford doesn't necessarity strike fear into anyone, i'd much rather have him out there over Manny.
Well the Sox return home for one game tonight, it's one of the make-ups against the Indians. Pedro is on the mound and hopefully he can turn our losing six of eight, to winning three of four. The game is slated for a 6:00pm EST start, then onto Atlanta for the weekend and into the Bronx to start next week.
