The story of the night was Rolando Arrojo, 7 1/3IP 5H 0ER 2BB 7K and upped his Red Sox record to 5-2. Take out his two starts against the A's, and Arrojo has been nothing short of amazing in a Sox uniform. I have dubbed the A's "that team" that just is going to beat Arrojo, he's been a completely different pitcher when not against them.
The scoring was a little short but I guess we do have to give El Puke a little credit, he is a good pitcher and he had won his last four starts. So let me get this straight, the Sox beat a good pitcher, and a good pitcher who was hot? Well then I have one word for them... Kiesler?
The four runs the Sox managed against El Puke were powered behind two two-run homers off the bats of Jose "I am now Babe Ruth" Offerman and Manny "Roidman" Alexander. A couple of unlikely sources, but then again that has kind of been the story of the season.
After a three hit day on Sunday, Nomar follwed it up with two more yesterday. He's been showing signs of coming out of late, you'll know he's back when he starts coming thru in the clutch again.
Tonight the Sox have the first of eight games against the Indians, starting with three in Cleveland. If there were ever a time to get hot again (and we haven't been hot since mid to early May), it's now. This is the final straw, we have to win plain and simple. Ramon Martinez starts the charge tonight at 7:00pm EST. Hey Joe K, you think Ramon could throw maybe 10-15 more warm-up pitches tonight? If Ramon's first inning problems are related to not being loose... Heeellllloooooooo!
