September 24 vs Orioles
Lost 1-0

  • Yesterday was the last Sox home game of the season (assuming that an absolute miracle doesn't happen as far as the Wild Card or Divison go), and our Sox finished off their last home date by giving all us fans in attendance a nice kick in the groin as a good-bye.

Now a first look a the score being 1-0 you're probably thinking our offense sucks. Well, yeah it does, but Mike Mussina was on the mound for the Orioles and he was simply awesom. But Mussina only went seven innings and somehow the Sox managed nothing from the O's sorry excuse for a bull-pen.

Here's the season in a nut-shell. Bottom of the ninth, no-outs, bases loaded, and WE DIDN'T SCORE!!! It wasn't totally the fault of the Sox hitters though, good ole Wave em' in Wendell can held accountable for this one. They say that it's the players that win and loose ball games, and 99% of the time that is true, but Wendle Kim can be held responsible for that loss yesterday.

As I mentioned the Sox had em juiced with no-outs. Bernard Gilkey was on third running for the injured Carl Everett (who had pinch-hit and walked). Pinch hitter Brian Daubach came to the plate next and lifted a very shallow fly ball to left field. So with no-outs, the top of the order coming up, and one of the biggest slugs on the team on third, Wendle had Gilkey tag and try for home. He was thrown out by ten feet, the catcher actually had to wait for him to get there.

So instead of one-out, the bases juiced, and Trot Nixon up, we have two outs with men on first and second. Trot then proceded to hit a fly ball to center to end the game, but would have easily scored Gilkey from third with the tieing run. Thanks Wendle!

Lost in the dibocle was the best start of Tomo Ohka's career. He went into the eigth inning, allowing only the one earned run (that the pen inherited and couldn't hold), four hits, and one walk. He was awesom. If this is any indication of what this kid has, i'd say it's a lock he'll be in the rotation next year. Ohka still has alot to prove, one season does not a player make, but he's moving in the right direction.

Sox have today off before heading to Chicago for three with the White Sox.
