I missed the entire game last night as I was busy getting my but wooped in the playoffs of my strat-o-matic baseball league. But from the looks of it Paxton Crawford was Da Man! He got some of the good ole poor Red Sox run support, but he was good enough, as was the pen, to fend off the Chi-Sox and take home a very impressive victory.
Since I didn't see the game and there was so little offense there's really not much I can comment about. It seems though that Nomar Garciaparra is doing all he can to reach the 100 RBI plateau for the year, as he went "yard" again (solo) brining his season total to 95. With four games left to go, it's a very attainable goal, but his teammates are going to have to get on base. The likely hood of Nomar getting five more solo shots in the next four is remote at best.
Anyone notice how good Jeff Fassero has been out of the pen? I don't have the numbers to back it up, but it seems that since Jimy put him (banished) there, he's been much more effective. Someone feel free to go look at the numbers and prove me right or wrong, either way i'd like to see his relief stats.
Another significant mark was reached last night as well. Derek Lowe notched his 40th save of the season (21 straight). The Sox lack of offense this year obviously provided many of the save opportunities, but regardless Lowe has to go out there and shut the door. As you can see he did it more time than not.
Sox finish of this trip to Chicago tonight at 8:05pm EST before heading off to Tampa Bay for the "grudge match".
