Official time of death 10:08pm EST Friday September 29, 2000. Even though we knew it was as close to being an impossible situation as possible without actually being one, we were all holding out hope for a miracle. But even if that didn't happen we wanted the Y-----s to earn it. Unfortuantely they didn't as the NYers continue to suck (losers of 14 of their last 16 games). Personally I don't think anyone from the EAST desreves to go to the playoffs, but someone has to go, unfortunately it's not us.
I still plan on keeping the site quie active thru the winter months that soon approach, even though as the Sox fell further out of contention the hits on the site continued to go down. No worry though, this is the only thing that keeps me sane thru the season, it gives me a place to vent, and I just want to say thank to all of you who faithfully returned day in, and day out this year.
If you were a constant visitor you noticed that some of our sections never opened (History, Fenway), and the ones that did (Stats, Profiles) weren't especially done very well. We didn't realize how much work it was going to be to keep up with the daily updates. But now that the off-season approaches I have plenty of time to improve on what we have, and begin what hasn't been started yet.
You can also look for some changes in the site's look come next season. Nothing real abrupt, but something different to look at.
Oh, by the way, we lost yesterday 8-6, end of recap.
As for me I am not signing off for the winter, I will be back each an every day with something. Whether it's an addtion to the site, a new article, or just a blurb on the message board, I am not going away. I realize traffic on the site could come to an outright halt with the Sox out of it, but if I have to I will be here alone talking to myself. Though I have a feeling that the core group of diehards I met this year will still be lurking around thru the long baseball-less winter that is quickly approaching (you know who you are).
Sox change to "go thru the motions" mode for today game vs the D-Rays at 4:35pm EST.
