Last night we really got to see what kind of pitcher Tomo Ohka really is, a future star. Tomo pitched probably the best game of his young career, it was definetly the most pressure filled, and he delivered. Tomo's line: 6 1/3IP 5H 1ER 2BB 4K. Which was more than good enough to win, but the bats were silenced by Rogah.
It's not like we were dominated, we had three different very good scoring opportunities and failed to get the job done. The worst showing was with one out (in the fifth i believe), Trot Nixon on third, and Everett and Nomar due up. Carl poped up, and Nomar lined to right, definetly not what we needed from the heart of the order. It was definetly a night of anti-clutch.
Ohka and the pen held the score at 2-0 into the ninth to try and give us one more shot, but good ole Brice Florie (who ended up taking a liner of the face) quickly deflated any chance by pulling his best John Wasdin impression. No not a homer, but again showed he CAN'T pitch in a pressure situation.
Pedro takes the hill this afternoon against Andy Pettite. It's not a question of if Pedro will keep us in the game, it's a question of how bad the offense wants the division and if they'll give us any support. Just Win Damn It! Game time 1:05pm EST.
