"Tio! Tio quit showing off! Tio!" M'lo glared up at his dragon, who was currently preforming one of his usual aerial acrobatic displays. He yelled for Tionalth to stop, as if the repetative pleas would work better if said aloud. They rarely did.
I'm not showing off rider-mine...I'm just stretching my wings. You know that I'm careful, and I never have run into anything or anyone. I need to practice flying...
"You need to practice flying like I need to practice breathing!" How had he ever gotten such a show-off dragon?! Maybe it was a subtle message for him to lighten up a little...and be less reserved. Too bad he hadn't taken that hint to heart yet. He ran a hand through his sun-bleached hair and sighed, his dark brown eyes still trained on his dragon.
If you need to practice breathing...then I suggest you get on it right away...
"That is NOT funny Tionalth!! I breathe just fine! You fly perfectly well...Now get down here!" The nerve of that big blue lug...Of course, M'lo wouldn't trade that big blue lug for anything on Pern...And as frustrating as his dragon could be...he could never stay mad at him.
Just a little longer. I must be in the best condition possible if I am to catch her.
"Catch her?! WHO! Since when were you in a flight?! You're supposed to tell me these things!" M'lo growled under his breath. Most of the Weyr were used to these episodes, so they passed by, gave the Bluerider a casual glance, looked up at his dragon, then continued on their way. Visitors stopped, stared, and had to be escorted away before a crowd gathered. M'lo never seemed to notice.
Green Jharnith. Don't be upset...I'm sure you'll like her rider. I will come down now, and then we can go sign up for the flight. Tionalth said calmly. He landed in an open spot a few dragonlengths from M'lo, and waited for him to join him.
M'lo stopped next to the large blue and glared up at him. "Green Jharnith, huh. And where, praytell, is she from??" He crossed his arms and waited.
Turquoise Weyr. Come, I will take you back to our weyr to get the straps, and then we can be off. The Blue held out his foreleg to help his rider mount.
The Bluerider grumbled under his breath as he climbed onto his dragon. The nerve of the beast to hide something like this from him until now! He hadn't even heard of a flight at Turquoise Weyr...so how had his dragon? He sighed heavily, then gripped the neck ridge in front of him as Tionalth took off. Well, he couldn't keep Tio from wanting to be in flights...and what was the harm in it anyway? Maybe it'd settle him down a little if he entered and won. He sighed again as the dragon landed on their ledge. He slid off and went to get his riding straps. There was NO WAY he was going anywhere other than his own weyr on that "stunt dragon" without straps.
Tionalth waited patiently for his rider to come back, then helped M'lo get them on. Once they were secure, he offered his leg to M'lo again and when he was settled, leaped off the ledge and went /between/ to Turquoise Weyr.
