"An all blue wing?" E'let looked up from the hide at the Weyrleader. "Is there any particular reason why?" He'd never heard of a Weyr having a wing of all one color...well...except for the Queen's Wing...but that was different. The queens weren't fighters.
"There are a lot of blues transfering here. I'm afraid that it's going to get to the point where there are too many for a normal fighting wing. Having a wing of all blues should solve that problem." N'zir watched the bluerider's expression as he explained.
I like that idea. It would be fun. We could prove we are just as good as bronze and brown dragons at leading. Deantath peered down at the two men as he lounged on his couch. His eyes whirled slowly, almost totally covered by their first lid.
E'let looked over at his dragon and smiled a little. You'd never pass up a chance to prove your worth...would you? We'll do it then. He glanced back at Weyrleader N'zir. "Deantath likes the idea...I think it could work. We'll do it."
N'zir smiled a little. "Good. I've a few more things to clear up with this, then we'll get the wing together. You're the first I've spoken with...all the other blueriders have to be asked before it can work. Fly the first fall in the normal wing, and I'll have Syrenth asess everyone for wing positions."
E'let nodded, then showed the Weyrleader out to the ledge. Deantath followed slowly, and stopped behind them. "Deantath will take you down if you'd like..." N'zir nodded, and Deantath moved forward and offered his foreleg.
N'zir settled himself a top the blue dragon and raised an eyebrow. This was definately different than riding his own bronze. Much smaller...it was rather akward.
I would hope so. It isn't proper for a blue to be as big as a bronze. Blues are small. I am glad you'd rather ride me. Syrenth chimed in matter-of-factly. He didn't really like the idea of *his* rider astride another's dragon...but it was only down from Deantath's weyr...and he was too comfortable beside Bularith to fly all that way for such a short trip. Just as long as N'zir didn't make a habit out of riding other dragons...
I would much rather ride you...but this is a short trip. I don't think I could get used to riding a smaller dragon, so you've no need to worry. N'zir reassured his bronze calmly. The ride was indeed short, and by the time he'd told Syrenth not to worry, Deantath was alreayd on the ground and waiting for him to dismount. Once he was safely on the ground he thanked the blue dragon and watched as he sprang back up into the air and landed on his ledge before he went off to find another bluerider.

"Well...we'd best get ready for Fall tomorrow. They'll be watching us." E'let patted his dragon's shoulder as he went to check on their fighting straps. Deantath grunted an agreement, and settled back on his couch. Hasta appeared above him, and after doing a few laps around the weyr, she settled on his back and curled up.
"Oh sure...go to sleep...the both of you. Leave me to do all the work." E'let grumbled in mock anger. His dragon crooned an apology, but closed his eyes anyway. Oh well...it wouldn't take him long, then he could rest as well.
