ABOUT FLEMISH GIANTS
Flemish Giants are believed to have originated in Flanders - where its name came from.  Serveral hundred years ago it was bred on a large scale in Europe but no definate information has been found on when they first appeared.  Flemish is and always has been a popular breed of rabbit.  Flemish are sponsored by the one of the oldest and strongest Specialty clubs in the country.  Rumor has it "once a Flemish Fancier, always a fan."

Flemish Giants are recognized in 7 varieties:
       Black, Blue, Fawn, Light Gray, Sandy, Steel Gray and White.

Senior Weights:  Bucks 13 lbs and over
                         Does  14 lbs and over
General Description:  Giant as implied by the name, they should be as large as possible - but not fat - very well balanced throughout with a powerful and massive body type.  The Sandy variety seems to be the most popular on the show circuit but all colors have dedicated breeders.  At one time the Steel Gray was the preferred color and was extremely popular bringing record prices.
