Ho!
To the Land with Outstretched Wings...
Isaiah 18: 1-7
With very limited commentary...
1 - Ho to the land...
shadowing with wings... which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia (Cush) |
1 - For starters, eliminate the "Woe" as if this chapter
were a curse. Check your commentaries. This is the same word beginning
chapters such as Isaiah 55: Ho, everyone who thirsts!! It is a matter of
context. Hey... to the land...
Shadowing with wings: better... with outstretched wings (outstretched as an Eagle) beyond the rivers of Ethiopia... better... far, far to the West |
2 - That sendeth ambassadors by the sea,
even in vessels of bulrushes upon the waters, saying, Go, ye swift messengers, to a nation scattered and peeled, to a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; to a nation meted out and trodden down, whose land the rivers have spoiled. |
2 - A people with international influence in vessels of bulrushes...
water absorbing... water gobbling up vessels. (This is not a scientific
journal. Any more than we are sounding scientific when we talk about the
"Sun rising" or "setting" for that matter! How would
you describe using primitive words... the most obvious characteristic of
a Mississippi Steamship? Sure looks like it's sucking up water to me...)
a nation scattered and peeled... meted out and trodden down - better... tall and smooth, laid out and organized... perfectly tilled... surveyed (considering every square inch of the country is mapped out directionally N-S; E-W) a people terrible from their beginning hitherto - the shot heard round the world. powerful... onward to the End! lands the rivers have spoiled - its natural resources even identify this great nation... divided and quartered by its great rivers... starting with the mighty Mississippi. |
3 - All ye inhabitants of the world, and dwellers on the earth,
see ye, when he lifteth up an ensign on the mountains; and when he bloweth a trumpet, hear ye. |
3 - All the World...when this country lifts up its ensign... its flag...
"Old Glory" (an interesting name...) which by studying heraldry
will reveal is an ancient religious identification marker of the Scarlet,
Blue, and White nations
(there were two... you know!) led out of Egypt and through the Wilderness
by Moses. (Now, this all I find sorta humorous... As those hardliner Separatists
hell bent on the issues of Church and State... might consider removing
our ensign "Old Glory", from the Classroom as well as the Halls
of Congress! (And by the way... aren't you just a little bit curious as
to why the Great Pyramid of Egypt and the Olive Branch of Israel are part
of OUR national symbols?)
Take note when this nation raises its flag... and goes to war... Watch out! |
4 - For so the LORD said unto me, I will take my rest, and I will consider in my dwelling place like a clear heat upon herbs, and like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest. | 4 - From the time of the Prophets... till a much later harvest time... the LORD will sit back... quietly.... rest... and consider... |
5 - For afore the harvest... | 5 - But before the harvest. There's going to be a pruning... big time. What harvest? He doesn't appear to mean the annual Thanksgiving in-gathering and festivities. |
6 - They shall be left together unto the fowls of the mountains, and the beasts of the earth:... | 6 - They...?! Who? (A clue: It's probably not that nation whose people are "terrible from their beginning onward to the End!" This isn't a curse for those folk.) |
7 - In that time shall the present be brought unto the LORD of hosts
of a people scattered and peeled, and from a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and trodden under foot, who lands the rivers have divided.... to the place of the name of the LORD of hosts, the mount Zion. |
7 - At that time... What time?! When... will this great nation... organized
and surveyed... powerful from its beginning... onward to the End!...
be called... a Present... a Gift... to the LORD of All Things! When will this great Gift be brought... obviously from another place... to the Place of the LORD of All Things. At that time... What time? Perhaps, the end of time and history as we know it?! |
Who is this Great Nation with Outstretched Wings to the entire world that is being kept till a time... much later than the Prophet who spoke these words? Manasseh, the half-Egyptian son of Joseph was promised to become the Great Nation... with his younger brother Ephraim... the Great Commonwealth of Nations. By the way... who is this Jack of Britain's "Union Jack"?
(See the incident of Jacob's blessing recorded in Genesis 48. In particular, note verse 19. An aside: Judah, and his House... would be honored as the one from whom would come the Lawgiver... and the Ruler even after his brothers... the House of Israel (sometimes called: the House of Ephraim) wandered off to a different place... a great wilderness of dry bones... where they were to be considered... "Not My people" having lost their identity. Yet in that new place... they would be called: Sons of the Living God. Perhaps, one of the least understood and most presumed upon Biblical concepts is that... of the birthright passed from Abraham... through Issac... to Jacob... and then to whom? Finally the birthright with all its promises... were passed to Joseph's two half-Egyptian sons.
This major population group would become "...as numerous as the stars of the heavens and the sands of the sea." This great peoples would "...control the gates of their enemies... pushing them to the ends of the Earth." They, alone... would be the ones to claim... "No weapon formed against them would prosper". Who is this mighty Nation? Terrible from it's beginning... onward to the end?
NOT to grasp the significance or understand the importance of these events and peoples... is to miss a key intersection of historical truth.)
