The Mansion and underground Umbrella research facility had been destroyed along with all incriminating evidence of Umbrella's illegal Bio organic weapons development. The remaining S.T.A.R.S members Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Barry Burton, Rebecca Chambers and Brad Vickers returned to Raccoon City without this evidence, and thus noone could or wanted to believe their story. The S.T.A.R.S insisted on support from the R.P.D to investigate Umbrella's operations, but because so many Raccoon City vacant's worked for Umbrella, the chief of police aborted all investigations of that nature. Without this support, the S.T.A.R.S investigated Umbrella secretly themselves in the city, and made a great deal of gruesome discoveries. They found out that the T-virus research conducted at the Mansion was only a percentage on how far Umbrella's activities stretched, and that Umbrella was conducting research on a different virus in a facility just under the police station. They also found out that the Umbrella HQ was located in Paris, France, so they all decided to travel to Europe to investigate the HQ themselves, and finally put an end to Umbrella. But this with the agreement not to mention anything to their friends and relatives, with the fear that it would put them in danger. Jill Valentine and Brad Vickers decided to stay behind in Raccoon City to investigate the facility beneath the police station further, and would later meet up with the team in Europe. September... A short time later, approximately 2 months after the Mansion incident, what the S.T.A.R.S feared most had occurred. Somehow, the T-virus had spread through the streets of Raccoon City, and a majority of the citizens had been infected. In time the streets became harder and harder to control, and noone knew what was causing the behavior. To combat this, the police recruited many outside officers to help maintain control, but at an incredible rate when more people got infected, the streets became more and more chaotic, and noone could escape... September 29... Hours later, one late officer arrived in the city, unknowing about what had happened - Leon S. Kennedy. The sister of Chris Redfield, 19 year old college student, Claire, had become worried about Chris's mysterious disappearance, and had also decided to go to Raccoon City to search for him. What they found exceeded all imagination, and they were forced to escape into the police station to stay alive... Official prologue. Imagine a normal mid-western U.S. town, built at the base of a vast forest. Business thrived here, especially with the advent of several new industries. Rumors began to spread, and the town was overcome with odd occurrences. Unidentifiable creatures appeared out of nowhere, and fatal accidents happened at an alarming rate. Word got out about a severe accident at a mountain lab. Not one of the townspeople knew what was happening to their quaint, formely serene hamlet. The Raccoon police department, in an effort to calm the growing fear among locals, recruited several new officers. Leon S. Kennedy is one ofthe promising new recruits. As Leon prepares to join his new unit, he attempts to contact the captain who hired him, but has no luck reaching him. Unfazed, he continues into Raccoon city to his new job. At the other side of town, a distraught Claire Redfield searches for her missing brother, Chris. Claire begins her search in Raccoon city, the last known location of her brother nearly two months ago, only to learn about the "accident" in the forest. Is Chris still in Raccoon city? Noone knows... Sadly for Leon and Claire, they are completely unaware of the overwhelming world of horror and dispair they both are about to enter...
